Morzine Ski Resort / About Morzine

Morzine lies at the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area in the Haute Savoie region of the French Alps. The ski area links 12 resorts across France and Switzerland with marked piste covering 650km.  In a day, it is possible to ski 80km of piste through 2 countries whilst never using the same lift twice.   Boasting nearly 90 restaurants on the mountains, the difficulty is choosing where to have lunch!

This is a great ski resort for all abilities and a particular favourite for family ski holidays.  With a variety of tree lined runs, wide motorways, big bowls and abundant off-piste adventure, there’s something for everyone.  Snowboarders flock to the snow parks with freeride, rails and cliff jumps and the best super pipe in Europe in the neighbouring resort of Avoriaz.   At 1000m, Morzine may not be the highest ski resort but the ski terrain reaches 2350m and 694 snow cannons combine to maintain optimum ski conditions throughout the winter season.

Morzine is a traditional market town with typical Savoyard charm.  A river gorge runs through the town with alpine chalets and pine forests nestled either side.   There is a busy atmosphere with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants.   It has a cinema, bowling alley and ice rink and hosts other activities such as paragliding, hot air ballooning and sleigh rides (both husky and horse drawn).

Skiers from the UK not only favour the resort for its sheer breadth of skiing but also because it is only 80 minutes from Geneva Airport and 9 hours from Calais.
